Meet Our Team!

Hi! My name is Madeleine Chang, and I am a junior at Beckman High School. Science has always been my all time favorite subject, but I really started getting into biology specifically while taking AP Bio. I really enjoy learning about the different processes that contribute to the complex world and make up life. By self studying, I was able to become a 2022 and 2023 USABO semi-finalist, win gold in the British Biology Challenge, and an honorable mention from the International Biology Bowl. In addition to learning about science, I also enjoy acting, playing viola, watching movies, participating in MUN, the occasional run, and reading about world news. Fun fact: I designed this website! I’m so excited and grateful to be a part of Beckman Biology Olympiad and I hope we have an amazing year! 

Hi! I’m Lindsey Jiang, a junior at Beckman High School and Vice President of Beckman Biology Olympiad. After challenging myself to dive deeper into the field of biology through various competitions such as the UK Biology Challenge and USABO, I have developed a deep love for the subject. Serving on the board of Beckman Biooly allows me to share this passion with my peers while making biology and the opportunities it offers accessible to students at Beckman and beyond. I’m excited to participate in the club’s endeavors this school year, and look forward to meeting you all!

I'm Melody Liu, a junior at Beckman High School. I became interested in Biology after taking AP Biology as a freshman. I explored my interest in various biology competitions, becoming a semifinalist in USABO, a bronze medalist in the British Biology Olympiad, and a gold medalist in the British Biology Challenge. In addition to biology, I am also interested in skin-care and rating food on my Instagram story. 

Hello! My name is Aadhya Shenoy, and I am currently a sophomore at Beckman High School. From a young age, I’ve always had a deep fascination with biology and how life works. After taking AP Biology freshman year, my interest in the subject only grew, leading me to become a 2023 USABO semifinalist. I am also equally captivated by the fields of neuroscience and psychology; the amazing capabilities of the human brain never cease to amaze me. I won first place at the 2022 Intermediate Brain Bee nationals and won medals at several other high school neuroscience competitions. Beyond the realm of science, I am a trained classical Indian dancer, and I love performing to Bollywood songs. In my free time, I enjoy playing video game music on the violin, drawing zentangle art, and watching mystery/heist movies. As a board member of the Beckman Biology Olympiad, I hope to spread my love of biology and inspire other passionate biology enthusiasts. 

Hi, My name is Derrick Chen, and I'm currently a sophomore. I am 15 years old and have enjoyed exploring the world of biology since I was young. I also like doing robotics and have several recognitions at the Robotics World Competition. As a board member of the Beckman Biology Club, I hope to not only share my biology knowledge but also learn from others to help further learn about this interesting subject.

Hello! My name is Rohan, and I am a rising sophomore at Beckman High School. I am really interested in all the fields of STEM, including biology, engineering, and programming. I have received the Certificate of Merit for the United States of America Biology Olympiad (USABO) in my first year of competition. Along with this, I have competed in the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (OCSEF) for three years, qualifying for the Broadcom Masters National Science Fair for three years. I was also selected for the California State Science Fair (CSEF) in my first year in the Senior Division. Outside of science, I partake in competitive robotics and have qualified for the World Championships for the past five years. I am also involved in programming, debate, piano, and basketball. I look forward to continuing to compete in USABO, and using my passion for biology and STEM to motivate others to continue learning biology.
